Acercándome (Come Closer): an audiovisual investigation of Proxemics.  6’35”

Through the video a relationship is developed between the observer and the protagonist.  It commences in public space and ends up in a private environment. The study reveals the power that the perception of interpersonal space has on our conduct, due to situations and surroundings, among other factors. Furthermore, it uses the four types of relationships mentioned in the theory of proxemics as well as the four corresponding distances. It also focuses on body language, facial expressions, kinetics and paralinguistics in order to transmit the nonverbal communication audiovisual study. The video doesn't allow the observer to decide if he wants to get closer to the protagonist or not, he is only given the option to observe the progress of the one-sided relationship presented by the protagonist. Intimate moments are included that could possibly cause a negative reaction, depending on the culture of the observer or even his personal interests, among other factors.  The universal image of human proximity allows for unlimited interpretations.  The video intends to provoke the acceptance or the rejection of the observer towards the protagonist, reflecting the prejudices that exist in the analysis system we utilize daily in our proxemic and non-verbal communication interactions.

Acercándome:  una investigación audiovisual de Proxémica.  6’35”
